Excellent story for sharing with kids of all ages!
Lizard's Song is the story of a lizard who teaches his friend Bear his favorite song ("Zoli, zoli, zoli...Rock is my Home"), only to discover that Bear keeps on forgetting it. Ultimately , Lizard realizes that the problem lies in the song, which is about Lizard's home. When he makes the song about Bear's home(..Cave is my home")Bear never forgets the song again. Share this story with anyone, but especially share it with homesick preschoolesrs, and remember to ask them at the end what they live in, and make a song for each of them never to forget.

It's a shame this book is no longer in print
As I look back, this book is one of my fondest memories. I remember having it read to me as child, knowing the words by heart, the beautiful pictures drawing me into the world of the story. I can still see those pictures in my mind and they bring a smile to my face even now all these many years later. If you can find it for your child either used or in a library, get it. It will be a favorite, guaranteed.

Navajo Summer
Navajo Summer

All the wheels on the bus go round and round as we left the town. About three miles away from my home, I started to cry because I felt that my brothers were going to get beaten like I did, it was horrible.
I need to jump off this bus and run home and save my family from being accused of doing stuff just so my father can get a hold of them and take his hands and smack and punch. Then I thought about it, well what if my dad threatens to kill my mother if she doesn't tell him where she is, so I didn't jump off I just stared out the window and imagined what my new life was going to be like. Well the bus ride took forever. (Papa used to take her to Chelly all the time and it is further then Navajo Country, it was a blast.) I miss my baby brothers and I want them to know that they have my pain and my sympathy.
As we arrived to Navajo County I ask a man I didn't even know for a ride to the Johnson's family; most likely he did and then asked for $2.00. I approached their house and knocked, I was so nervous I started to shake and fidget with things in my backpack. "Who is it?" asked Mrs. Johnson. "Navajo Summers!" I said. "Oh my gosh, what are you doing here all by yourself?"
You can read the book for yourself to figure out what Mrs. Johnson's says and how Navajo responds. I rated the book five out of five stars
Because this book is interesting and makes you want to keep your eyes on the pages and the book in your hands. I recommend this book to kids the ages of ten through twelve because there are some challenging words and some kids younger will not understand. I want to thank you for taking your time out of your day to read my summary about Navajo Summer!

Owliver the Actor Takes a Bow
Published in Hardcover by Simon & Schuster (Juv) (January, 1983)
Authors: Robert Kraus, Jose Arugego, and Ariane Dewey
Average review score:

Owliver the actor is a star
When my children were little, this book was a favorite. Now that they are 21 and 18, Owliver is one of the books about which we reminisce. We have vivid memories of this book and the character of Owliver. It was the sweetest form of "interactive" - your fingers became his arms as he acted several different roles. What fun! I am very sad to hear that this book is out of print. If you find a copy of it, you've found a real treasure. I know that I'll be searching for a copy.

Poison Dart Frogs
Published in Paperback by Boyds Mills Pr (February, 2001)
Author: Jennifer Owings Dewey
Average review score:

Fascinated By Frogs.
Over the past several years, I have learned a lot about frogs. However, I have a lot more to learn. POISON DART FROGS has helped me in my quest for knowledge about frogs. The book is full of information and brilliantly penciled drawings. The book discusses such things as where the frogs poison comes from, how hunters gather the poison, how the frogs are born, and how they mate. A great book for any young person interested in nature or for anyone who loves frogs.

Pork and Beans: Play Date
Published in School & Library Binding by Scholastic (May, 1989)
Authors: Jovial Bob Stine, Jose Aruego, Ariane Dewey, and Bob Stine
Average review score:

Pork and Beans: Play Date, a hilariously funny book
Pork and Beans: Play Date by Jovial Bob Stine is a hilariously funny book about siblings and their friends when and how they play together. My boys and I would get this book from out local library every chance we got. It made us all laugh so much when I read it to my very active and sometimes argumentative boys. It would make us laugh because it reminded us so much of our family. The mom in the book would remind me of me, especially on many occasions when my boys would argue while playing and I would say, "Play something else!" just like the mom in the book. If this book is no longer available that's quite a shame but I'm sure many libraries still have it. Get it, read it, and get ready for a real treat of a story. Barbara Chang
